Helping teens protect their hearing

Problem: Many teens are exposed to loud noises and music that can damage their hearing, and teens can be a difficult audience to reach. CDC’s original content included microscopic anatomical images of the inner ear and complex medical copy.

Solutions

  • Developed an interactive infographic and eye-catching social media graphics with a bold look and feel

  • Crafted conversational messages that resonated with teens (based on findings from user research)

  • Launched a social media campaign and digital assets on World Hearing day and used innovating communication channels to get the messages out

Impact

  • Campaign reached 2.4 million people in more than 100 cities in just over 2 weeks

  • The infographic was displayed in Times Square around the Macy’s Day Parade and New Years reaching millions more
